Here at DPNow.com we're very pleased to announced that we have two GE X5 superzoom cameras to give away this month. The X5 has just been released and at £129 offers a new level of price/performance for a bridge camera; that's a camera which offers more than your usual compact digital camera without the expense and bulk of a DSLR camera.

We first saw the X5 prototype at the PMA trade show back in February. The GE camera design team has worked hard to engineer the X5's sensor-shift image stabilisation system for the 15x superzoom lens that the X5 features. Despite the huge reach of the X5, which provides a wide angle 27mm equivalent view right up to 405mm tele, the X5 is remarkably compact and will fit even small bags and won't weigh you down either.

The X5 is stuffed with smart features, blink and smile detection, face detection, multi-point autofocus and artificial intelligence exposure metering. But if you want to explore and enhance your own photographic skills there is full exposure control override so you can use manual settings.

You also have the choice of using the big 2.7 inch external LCD screen or the X5's electronic eye-level viewfinder. The X5 boasts a 14.1 megapixel CCD sensor and ISO sensitivity settings ranging up to ISO 3200. Video is, of course, supported with up to VGA resolution and 30 frames per second recording.

Meanwhile, the X5 uses universally available AA batteries which should mean you will avoid the situation where your batteries are flat and either you have to wait for the charger to work or you don't have a charger with you.

The £129 price tag of the GE X5 is very impressive and we look forward to testing a sample of the X5 soon.
