More hands-on Leica T impressions plus camera JPEG and DNG RAW samples In-camera Leica T JPEG and DNG RAW file samples gallery In this article you can peruse a gallery of 50 sample images taken with the new Leica T- 50 camera JPEGs and their matching RAW DNG files (no need to wait for your favourite RAW converter to support a new camera) - all snapped in and around the one of the Leica facilities in London's Mayfair. Samsung launches the new NX Mini Smart Camera
19th March 2014
Samsung has unveiled a brand new mirrorless interchangeable lens system camera, or compact system camera, with the emphasis on 'compact'. Called the Samsung NX Mini, Samsung appears to be following in the wake of Nikon 1 and Pentax Q, both of whom have chosen to pursue the route of mirrorless system cameras sporting much smaller sensors than anyone else. With a smaller sensor you can build a really small camera with tiny lenses. Samsung has opted to go for the 1 inch sensor, which is the same size used by Nikon in the Nikon 1 system. This has a cropping factor of 2.7, so a lens of say, 50mm focal length on a standard full frame 135 format camera will have the same field of view as an 18.5mm NX Mini lens.

Nikon unveils D4s flagship pro DSLR
25th February 2014
Read the Nikon UK press release 53 image product gallery Nikon has officially launched its new flagship professional DSLR, the D4s, which replaces the D4 which was launched in January 2012. The D4 was a major addition to the Nikon line up and basically a new desigm from the ground up and it was welcomed enthusiastically by professional photographers who used the D4 to great effect at the London Olympics later the same year. The D4s is much more of a tidy-up of the D4; a subtle evolution and Nikon says the improvements to the camera are largely in response to customer-feedback.

Sony Alpha 6000 mirrorless system camera preview
12th February 2014
It looks like a NEX, but that branding is now officially finished and the new Sony Alpha 6000 goes some way to demonstrate why it's not a NEX. Gone is the characteristic NEX-style icon-based user-interface, replaced by the more conventional orange-keyed menus and function displays of other Alpha cameras.

Classic Nikon FM film SLR reincarnated as the Nikon Df DSLR
5th November 2013
Nikon is the latest camera manufacturer to employ nostalgia in the design and marketing of its cameras with the launch of the Nikon Df, which resembles what many would say is one of Nikon's iconic film SLRs, the FM series launched in 1977. Despite its retro-style, the Df borrows much from the Nikon D4 professional flagship DSLR, including its 16 megapixel full frame sensor and pentaprism viewfinder system. The Df (f for 'fusion) will be available in black or silver and only with a special edition 50mm f/1.8 AF-S standard lens. Nikon says the Df is aimed at enthusiast photographers, style-seekers and fans of older Nikkor F-mount lenses dating back to 1959.

Kodak PixPro AZ521 52x zoom bridge camera review
31st October 2013
Over 50 sample images in this review AZ521 product image gallery Kodak is (almost) dead, but Kodak is also very much alive and kicking in the form of JK Imaging, an Asian optics firm that makes cameras and components, including lenses, for a wide variety of concerns. JK Imaging is the Kodak brand licensee for cameras, among other things, and can be identified by its PixPro sub-brand. Its flagship camera is the Kodak PixPro AZ521, a 52x (equivalent to an astonishing 24-1248mm range) f/2.8-5.6 ultrazoom. The camera also employs an optical image stabiliser (OIS) and if that isn't enough there is a 4x digital zoom option. Video in 1080HD 30p maximum is supported with H.264 compression format. Video can be played from the camera via HDMI to a compatible display. SD/SDHC memory cards up to 32GB capacity are supported. 8GB of internal memory is featured for when your SD card runs out or gets lost or forgotten!

Olympus Stylus 1 hands-on preview
29th October 2013
Olympus had a massive success with the OM-D E-M5, a Micro Four Thirds mirrorless interchangeable lens system camera, thanks in large part to its unapologetically OM film SLR-styling that dates back to the 1970s. With its new premium bridge camera, the Stylus 1, Olympus hopes that OM magic will work again, but as with the E-M5 the the Stylus 1 is more than a looker. Although not as outrageously long range by some contemporary bridge camera standards, the 10.7x (28-300 equivalent) zoom lens boasts a very bright f/2.8 maximum aperture throughout the zoom range. The lens also collapses down so efficiently when not in use that the Stylus 1 is almost like a compact camera rather than a bridge camera in terms of pocketability, being just 52mm from front to back. ###
