Vote for November's Picture of the Month

Autumn provides today's visual Picture of the Day treat, with a charming shot of a Nubian girl that was taken on a visit to Egypt.

Autumn says: "Well, I think most people know that I am a keen amateur, with not a lot of technical knowledge about my camera, but I keep on trying different things.

"My interest would not have been retained, had it not been for digital and I am now on my third digital camera a Fuji Finepix S9500, but still use my Canon Powershot G3.

"I enjoy travel and the picture of the Nubian Girl was taken when on a Nile Cruise, which was one of my favourite holidays ever.

"The holiday included a trip to a Nubian village where people were invited to have tea. There were many visitors there and this girl was a tattoo artist using henna.

Autumn adds"I saw her standing in the doorway, liked the composition and just snapped and hoped."

The camera used was a Canon Powershot G3, exposure: 1/60th at f/3, exposure mode: Auto, focal length: 28.8 mm, lash fired: red eye reduction, auto mode.

According to Autumn the picture has printed well and is one of her favourites. It wouldn't look at all out of place from a feature in the National Geographic.

If you visit August's gallery you can see the picture above in a larger size, plus more of her photos.
