Archangel is George and he studied in England, but is now back in his native Greece and from the look of his pictures, living a great life in the sun, enjoying archipelago life.
'Evening Island Return' was taken on an inter-island ferry and it has a slighhtly surreal quality about it. I spent ages looking at this picture to figure out the apparent coast line's blurred quality and wondering how the ship's wake suddenly disappeared at a rather odd horizon, under the coast!
You may have figured it out faster than me, but of course it's the top bar of the ship's railing. The impression is slightly changed after that, but it is still a lovely image, with the figure relaxing with a book in the setting sun's glow, no doubt on the way back from an enjoyable trip to another Greek island.
George says: "This picture was taken on the ferry, while I was returning from the Greek island of Tinos over a nice weekend trip in July. I was really close to that girl, actually sitting on the deck in a table behind her. It was late afternoon, tried to zoom little to avoid face distortion. Nothing really special in the camera setup. Just turned on and shoot."

And what about George? "Photography is a hobby to me mostly. I don't live from photography. I started around 20 years ago with my first serious camera being a Canon AE-1. The last 3-4 years, occasionally, I take photos for the Greek Ministry of tourism. Some of my photos have become postcards and some others have been featured in some Greek Tourist Guides."
