Mowgli (Maurice Brehaut) provides today's DPNow Picture of the Day, a classic sunset scene across Cobo Bay in Guernsey, the Channel Islands. He says: "Cobo bay is one of our most attractive beaches here on the west coast of Guernsey. It is very popular with locals and tourists alike. I regularly go there as it is only a mile down the road from where I live, and there are some glorious sunsets to be seen.
"The bay has a very small pier to one side and is frequented by fishermen with their boats. I seem to remember on this particular evening there was another photographer down at the beach and we were both walking up and down the beach looking for an ideal place.
"He had a tripod (I didn`t). I picked the view with the silhouettes as it was something I hadn`t really tried before and especially with the boats in the distance so it was really an experiment."

This sunset scene has the most glorious late evening warmth, though the sun is still well above the horizon. Sunsets can be clichéd, but we don't seem to tire of seeing really good ones and this is no exception.
Maurice adds: "I am a late starter in photography originally bought a Fuji FinePix point and shoot back in 2004. Got hooked playing around with the limited settings available and jumped at the chance of a second hand Canon EOS-300D (from
Peter who is also a regular on this forum). My main interests are landscape photography, boats (plenty of those around our Island) and I would like to get more into wildlife pictures."
