How DPNow Pictures of the Day are selected
After yesterday's Picture of the Day photograph by Scott Brehaut from Guernsey in the Channel Islands, we stay there with another 'Scott', this time with a shot taken at one the largest of the islands, Jersey. The picture was taken by Antony Scott, better known as wizuk, on the DPNow discussion forum and photo galleries. Antony was last featured on Picture of the Day in January. His picture shown today is a particularly nice beach sunset, with interest and detail in the foreground, centre and in the distance. It's a picture that makes you want to be there.
"The picture was taken on the 9th May 2005 at St Ouen's Bay in Jersey, the Channel Islands. (Liberation day on Jersey).." explains Antony. "The bay spans the entire depth of the western coast. The Channel Islands are wonderful place for photography, especially some of the smaller islands.
"I didn't have my tripod with me at the time so several of the pictures resulted in a slightly skewed horizon. (Not this one) The stone in the foreground created a dip in the sand that captured the last rays of the sun and drawing you into the picture."

As we found out back in January, Antony has tried a lot of digital cameras in his time, starting with a Canon ION - more accurately a still video camera, then a Nikon Coolpix E950, Olympus E-10, Sigma SD9, Canon EOS 20D and, currently no less, a Sony DSC-R1, Canon EOS 5D and a recently acquired Sigma SD14. Antony used his 20D for today's picture.
