TrevWhite has delighted us here on DPNow with his superb landscapes and portraits from his native New Zealand. Here's another great shot from Trevor who informs us that the scene is Mackenzie Country, North Canterbury, which is on the northern side of New Zealand's South Island, north west of Christchurch. The southern part of this range includes New Zealand's highest mountain, Aoraki / Mount Cook at 3,724 metres. The lighting in this shot makes all the difference. The foreground is shadowed while the higher areas of the mountains are still bathed in sunlight, which also highlights the high winds whipping up the snow on the mountain ridges. Beyond are some grey storm clouds - this is an image of contrasts and great natural beauty expertly seen and captured by Trevor.
