Father-in-law, by Peter

Peter is one of several members we have who live in the Channel Islands, or Guernsey to be more precise, the second largest of the islands. As the title suggests, this is a shot of Peter's rather cheeky-looking father in law that was originally posted on the DPNow forum a short while ago. You can just see that he has been caught a little by surprise. Peter also posted a straight-on shot but I think this is by far the better of the two. I also like the processing; crisp monochrome and without over-sacrificing the highlights. The background id nicely blurred while the facial features remain crisply in focus. It looks like some vignetting has been sympathetically added as well.
Peter says: My father in law (Robert) really does not like having his photo taken but I have wanted to shoot one or two of him in black and white for a while now. So on Sunday I went around in the afternoon and talked him in to giving me a bit of time to take a few photos. - five minutes - by the way was all he was going to give me! This gave me a great chance to try out the new Fuji XPro1 which I have had for a few weeks now but not reallly used anywhere near enough. Also that week my free lens turned up; Fuji 35mm f/1.4,so this really was a good chance to try both of them out. Must say I think this lens will become a favorite of mine. Edits done in LR5 and also CS6. Settings on camera were ISO 200, f/1.4 1/680sec and of course 35mm. Must also say I really am enjoying shooting in b/w and now shoot with the camera in raw and with a JPEG set to b/w.
