OlyPaul dusted off his elderly Olympus E-1 DSLR and gave it a very successful airing which resulted in today's Digital Photography Now Picture of the Day pick. Paul had to be very quick and observant to spot this opportunity. Paul explains:
"This was taken on the 2nd June this year while doing my daily walk round Sandwell Valley with my two dogs.
Bella, who the image is of, is a Jack-Chi and very tiny.
She loves to run through the long grass but sometimes loses sight of me or my other dog so she has to do her Meerkat impression to see above the grass.
This was one of those moments I caught on camera, which was the E-1 which I was giving it's regular airing out.
E-1, 40-150mm Mk1 , 1/2000sec @ f5, ISO 400."
The description of 'meerkat' impression is on the nail. But not only is the little dog's stance and expression a picture in its own right, so is the excellent tall grass and wild flowers surrounding Bella. This is certainly a shot to cherish and was also featured in a recent Salon contest on the forum.
