New Rollei digicams are more than they seem
Rollei is a name with a rich photographic heritage. Perhaps best know for the classic Rolleiflex twin-lens reflex (TLR) roll film camera, Rollei was an innovating camera company that was responsible for a 35mm camera system with interchangeable film backs.
The old Rolleiflex is now an icon of a past age but it was recently resurrected in miniature digital camera form as the Rollei MiniDigi (above), capable of producing 1280x1280 pixel (square of course) 1.6MP photos.

Alas, the more recent chapters of Rollei's history are less glamorous and today's announcement of two new Rollei-branded cameras reflects this. The four megapixel dk4010, with 10x zoom and a high-speed shooting mode, is actually a re-badged Kyocera M410R.

Meanwhile, the new Rollei dr5100 is a re-badged Ricoh Caplio GX, a 5MP compact with interesting-looking specifications, but which didn't impress when we tested the Ricoh version earlier in the year. You can read more about the Ricoh Caplio GX in our First-looks review.
You can read more about the new Rollei digital camera additions in the official Rollei dk4010 press release and the Rollei dr5100 press release.
