The annual Fashion Acts fund raiser to support AIDS/HIV charities kicked off this year with the auction, last night, of 42 framed photos snapped by a selection of celebs from Carole Vorderman to David Bailey. A further 42 photos will be auctioned publicly on eBay, starting from next Tuesday, 23rd November. If you want to own a unique photo taken by someone famous, this is your chance!

Many of the photos featured were shot using Olympus C-765UZ cameras donated by Olympus. They have all been professionally printed and framed and while some stunning pro shots have been included, results from the amateur snappers, including Bill Nighy, Gillian Anderson, Colin Firth, Anthony Worrall Thompson, Bryan Adams, Emma Thompson, to name but a few, are surprisingly good.

Last night's auction, attended by notables such as Laura Bailey, Peter Gabriel, Penny Smith, Jasmine Guinness, Bob Carlos Clarke, Bryan Adams and three Manolo Blahniks, or to be more precise three impersonators, witnessed top bids of £4,000 for Bob Carlos Clarke's erotic imagery and £2,500 for Mario Testino's intimate shot of supermodel Kate Moss.

A Matthew Williamson picture was going for a fairly reasonable £1,000 when organiser Kathy Davies took to the stage to display a limited edition Williamson chiffon number the designer kindly donated to boost the lot price. Bids rose to £2,000 until one wag in the audience offered Kathy, former model and drummer in the late Robert Palmer's infamous Addicted to Love video, £2,500 to don the frock. Like a true pro she slipped off, slipped into it and returned to rapturous applause.

Meanwhile, Jasmine Guinness's brilliantly candid shot of her 4 year old niece is going to a good home – hers! She outbid 2 others to take home the snap which she will give to the youngster at some point in the future.
