Tom Holle hails from Kansas City, Missouri in the USA. Our pick from Tom's DPNow gallery is this gritty black and white portrait. There is an intense range from brightness to darkness and the middle tones are full of presence. The details in the brim of the hat nicely complement the beard and then of course there are those piercing eyes. Tom explains:
"He and his wife had a booth at an art show. I asked his wife if I could take her picture and she said yes. I saw the look he gave me and I said: "Let me take your picture also," which I did. He didn't seem thrilled with the idea. I processed it in Lightroom and then in Silver Efex Pro."
