Bear (real name: Kenton) is an ex-pat from the UK who has moved on from a high-flying career and now lives in and runs a 22 acre olive farm at altitude in southern Spain he and his family renovated in the last ten years. Much of the olive oil is transformed in to hand-made luxury products and solid via their website lujos.co.uk.
The photo we have picked from Kenton's gallery reflects the local Spanish traditions, as Kenton explains:
"This shot was taken in Yunquera, Malaga, Andalucia, the town where I live. It was July 2010, Saturday July 11th I think. The day of the last World Cup final! Spaniards are passionate about football and they are doubly passionate about the national side. I watched the game in a local bar and when Spain won all hell broke loose, almost every one of the inhabitants came out to celebrate, young and old alike. I had brought a camera in anticipation of a victory and just wandered around taking pictures. In a small plaza just off the main square there is a drinking fountain and an old horse-watering trough. Not big enough for adults to get into but the kids were a different matter. They were jumping in and out, splashing passers by and simply screaming their almost uncontainable joy. I shot this lad celebrating the victory on a night he will remember his whole life. A night I will remember for the remainder of mine. The celebrations lasted all night and long into the next day and anticipation is building here for another one like it in a few months time."
