rogleale lives in a beautiful part of France that is Brittany. Roger has shown us just how beautiful his part of the world is many times on the Digital Photography Now forum and galleries. It was not difficult to choose this shot for today's Picture of the Day. The scene tells many stories an we wonder what the the thoughts and conversations were at the time. And did the man catch Roger taking the picture in the corner of his eye? Or did his lady friend beat him to it, which could be why she is laughing? The other people are looking in various directions, but why? But of course the star of the scene is the little boy and his colourful toy, also looking very expectant. So what was going on? Roger tells the story:
"We were waiting in La Place St Thomas in Camaret sur Mer for the pipe band to arrive as is usual on the eve of July 14th, Bastille Day, and this young lad had been amusing the crowd with his prancing around. It was getting for 10PM so I set an ISO of 1600 on my D7000, and as usual it did a good job. This is the second Nikon 18-105 I have had as my walk around lens, and they have both produced needle sharp images for treating in ACR (Adobe Camera RAW).
Although this time in June does see some of the longest daylight hours of the year, it must have been after sunset, so the light was most likely fading. So it's remarkable that modern cameras like the Nikon D7000 can produce results like this under relatively dark conditions. This is a lovely candid street shot and one I would certainly have been very proud to have taken myself.
