Roxio Issues Warning About Marble Motion

Also check out our competition this month to have a chance of winning a copy of Roxio's Creator 7 here.

April 1st, 2004 – Roxio, Inc., The Digital Media Company®, provider of the best selling digital media software in the world, today issues a warning to the public about the potentially addictive qualities of its Marble Motion internet game, after a number of people have reported that they can’t stop playing it.

Marble Motion (www.roxio.co.uk/marbles) is a game of skill that requires a strategist’s mind, and the luck of a donkey. The objective is to place corresponding coloured marbles side by side, to gain points, which can result in fabulous prizes. Created to support the launch of Roxio’s new digital media software range, including the next generation of the UK’s best selling* utility software, Roxio Creator 7, Marble Motion subtly lures players into its clutches, yet addiction is a very real possibility.

Speaking from Roxio’s UK headquarters, Stephen Mold, European director of Roxio explains, “It started with a report of a man sitting at his PC until he collapsed with hunger, then another had to have his laptop surgically removed from his lap. We fear we have unleashed an addictive monster. To protect the public we are issuing this warning and ask that players watch out for these symptoms;

o Index finger ache
o Irrational fear of falling marbles and blurred vision
o Lapse in personal hygiene
o Inexplicable loss of social life

…Just some of the signs that someone has lost their marbles.

One such person who displayed those signs was Ivor Diction from Milton Keynes, “Playing Marble Motion begins as a innocent habit, perhaps to while away a lunch hour…but you start to miss it, then it becomes a craving for the delicious ‘high’ of matched marbles. By then its too late, the game has taken over your life. Yes, I live for my marbles now.”

Before returning to his screen Mr Diction added, “I only hope I get to win either the tickets to Wimbledon, or a copy of Roxio Creator 7. Though I doubt I’ll be able to tear myself away to enjoy them.”

Mold added, “If you, or any of your friends and family believe they may be suffering from Marble Motion, help is at hand, visit www.roxio.co.uk/aprilfool
