Hampshire student wins first national college photography award
Michael Hackett, a student from Brockenhurst College in Hampshire has won the first ever national college photography awards, organised by the Association of Colleges.
His photograph of fellow students relaxing on a summer’s day was judged the strongest image from over 175 entries by a panel which included the picture editor of the Birmingham Post and Birmingham Mail.
Michael received his prize for £500 at the Association of Colleges annual conference in Birmingham last week in front of 1,500 guests.
Jethro Bradley-Firth from Norton College in Sheffield received a £250 second prize for his image of a guitarist in rehearsal (attached). A £100 third prize went to Samantha Porter from Aylesbury College for her architectural image her of college (attached).
The AoC, “My College Life” photography competition, aims to encourage creative visual talent in colleges and is open to all sixth form and further education students around the country.
