Zio Corporation announce new ‘Hi Speed ZiO’ range of Dazzle* card readers
Newmarket, 23rd February 2004 - ZiO Corporation today announced the full release of its ‘Hi Speed ZiO’ family of products across the UK, selling through Dixons, PC World and Currys.
ZiO Corporations new range of media card readers, the ‘Hi speed ZiO’ family offer digital camera users, new and old, the next generation of reader form and function, using USB2.0 technology. Dazzle’s original USB reader ‘ZiO!’ set the standard for simple plug and play portability.
ZiO Corporation, the company behind Hi Speed ZiO’s development was born through a management buy-out of the Dazzle* Digital Media arm of electronics giant SCM Microsystems. The familiar Dazzle* logo remains across the product range, but the company shows a new and exciting willingness to let some of today’s best industrial designers take a free hand in pulling together product look and feel that shows small really is beautiful.
The first feature that strikes you about the ‘Hi Speed Zio’ is its styling, combining elegant modern lines with unquestioned utility. The transparent ring around the reader serves many function, firstly, it protects the USB connection when in transit, secondly, it protects your media, stopping it falling out or accidentally breaking while in the device. Finally, it enables the reader to sit up on the desk, as a desktop reader.
The other key feature of the “Hi Speed ZiO”, as the name suggests, is its use of the USB2.0 interface enabling lightning fast download speeds. This is an absolute must given the larger file sizes common on many new cameras today. The ‘hi speed ZiO’ is also fully compatible with the earlier USB1.1 interfaces.
Hot swapping is another useful facility this reader offers, if you have more than one media card, you will know how tedious it is to have to reconnect the device whenever you insert a new card. With the ‘Hi Speed ZiO’, you can simply remove one media and insert a new one saving time and frustration.
The software CD bundled with this product includes ‘On DVD’ which gives you the ability to backup your images to CD at full resolution, as well as set-up a slideshow of all your pictures which will play in any VCD/CDr enabled DVD player, or on your computer. You can even add music (as a WAV or MP3 file), and have your photos run through in sync with the music. You could even record a commentary and time a full presentation to help you remember in years to come exactly what was happening.
