Dazzle has launched two high-speed digital media readers to support xD media, the smallest photo memory cards on the market.
The Dazzle Hi-Speed ZiO! xD/SmartMedia digital media reader is a wireless, portable device for people on the move. It can be easily connected to a computer or laptop to transfer pictures, music and other data between the PC, digital camera, MP3 player etc. Its key-ring shaped design means that when closed it turns it into a portable carrying case to protect the media card from loss or damage. The Dazzle Hi-Speed xD/SmartMedia Desktop Reader provides a more traditional, cable-based way of data transfer and is ideal for home or business users. Dazzle’s Hi-Speed readers allow the average user to transfer files from a full 32MB Compact Flash card in under eight seconds compared to the 40 seconds it used to take with USB1.1.
With the larger size digital media such as IBM Microdrives, the performance difference is even more dramatic. Users can now copy a full 1GB IBM Microdrive to their PC in less than 5 minutes compared to the 21 minutes with USB1.1.

The Dazzle Hi-Speed digital media readers can also be used as removable disk drives, with USB plug-and-play capability. They are mass storage compliant and require no additional software drivers to be installed.
Dazzle digital media readers come with Dazzle On DVD software, offering users an easy way to create photo slideshows that can be burned to a CD for playback on a home DVD player. Users can add their favourite photos and music to a project and then burn directly to a recordable CD. Dazzle OnDVD automatically archives high quality copies of their photos to the disc, ensuring users have a safe copy of their digital images. The new Dazzle digital media readers support Mac OS 9.x or higher and Windows 98 SE, 2000, Me, XP. They are also backwards compatible with USB 1.1 so will work with all older USB ports. Dazzle ZiO! and Desktop digital media readers are also available for CompactFlash Type I and II, SmartMedia, MultiMediaCard/Secure Digital, MemoryStick and Magic Gate.

The Dazzle xD/SM Desktop reader is available immediately at the suggestedretail price of £29.99 at PC World and selected Dixons stores. The DazzleHi-Speed ZiO! xD/SM digital media reader is available from August at the suggested retail price of £34.99.
