After the success of the first “Totally Wild Photographer of the Year” competition in 2008, this year’s challenge to amateur and would-be professional photographers is to be launched this week.
It will encourage entrants to know that one of last year’s winning photographs depicting two of Port Lympne’s silverback gorillas squaring up for a tussle caused a tremendous stir in the media worldwide. Commented Director of Fundraising Projects, Robert Boutwood:
“We were delighted with the number of photographs entered for last year’s competition and the quality of the entries and the subject matter was astounding. This competition has certainly boosted the profile of the Aspinall Foundation and its work with endangered animals”.
In addition to a VIP trip around Howletts or Port Lympne Wild Animal Park accompanied by one of the park’s professional photographers who will pass on tips and techniques for the perfect photograph, the lucky adult category winner will be awarded a Sony A350 digital single lens reflex camera.
The competition is free to enter and the winning photos will be available to view and buy at www.totallywild.net/photogallery.
Continued Boutwood:
“The competition raises funds for our rare and endangered animals. Professional photographers Dave Rolfe and Vic Sharratt will again being using their expertise to select the winners.”
The three categories are adult; under 16’s - where the winning entrant will spend the day alongside an animal keeper at Port Lympne and mobile phone, where the winning entrant will receive a VIP tour around Port Lympne and the African Experience accompanied by up to three people.”
