Caz is today's Picture of the Day featured photographer. Caz has recently started using a DSLR, but this picture was taken with her trusty Canon compact. I assumed this scene was shot first thing in the morning, but it was actually taken at the other end of the day. Caz explains: "This was taken in February with the compact Canon - the A710 because it was before I bought the DSLR."
As is often the case, it was by chance that this idyllic scene was captured, as Caz explains: "I'd been for a walk round the local reservoir to try and get some bird shots, without success. I was walking back to the car as the sun was going down and saw the sun setting behind the bare trees.
Sometimes you don't need an SLR to get a really good shot: "This is virtually straight out of camera, just cropped slightly. The A710 does have some manual settings, so I took this at f5, 1/640 to keep the reflections as crisp as possible," says Caz.
Caz took a short course in digital photography with the Open University recently, as Caz explains: "I included this in my OU T189 panel and did get feedback on this image. They suggested a squarer crop but I prefer this."
