The Enchanted Garden, by Antony Scott:
How DPNow Pictures of the Day are selectedAntony Scott's atmospheric and colourful night time photograph is today's DPNow Picture of the day. Antony, whose forum and gallery user name is '
wizuk' made the most of an imaginatively flood-lit event at the end of last year.
"The picture was taken at
Sheffield Park Garden during their 'Enchanted Garden' event, 27-29th December 2006," explains Antony. "Being based in Burgess Hill, Sheffield Park is one of a number of Nation Trust gardens in the surrounding area that I visit through out the year. This is the first time the garden has been floodlit at night." We selected one of a series of pictures from the event you can see in
Antony's gallery.

He adds: "On the 27th December the weather was ideal, a still clear night creating perfect mirror reflections in the lakes. The garden takes on a magical feel when lit up with floodlights. This was the first time I'd used the camera (Canon EOS 5D) in low light conditions and I was very pleased with the results.
"The picture was taken at ISO 800 1/5th sec F/4 with relatively little noise. Some of the longer exposure pictures had more noise, but these cleaned up well with paint shop pro."
Antony reveals he has wide experience of different makes and models from the recent past: "I'm an enthusiastic amateur photographer taking pictures in my spare time. I've been using digital cameras for 8 years and have used a range of cameras. Starting with a Canon ION, Nikon Coolpix E950, Olympus E-10, Sigma SD9, Canon EOS 20D. My current cameras are a Sony DSC-R1 and Canon EOS 5D."
