How DPNow Pictures of the Day are selected
Look for 'coupekid' on the DPNow discussion forum and photo galleries and you will find the work of Ben Durrant, including today's Picture of the Day selection. Ben is no stranger to POTD and last time it was a horrifying image of a wolf that set the heart racing. Horror turns to hilarity this time, with Ben's amusing head-on telephoto capture of a sea gull (can anyone tell us the species?) coming in to land.
Ben explains: "This was taking during a walk with a freind and his young son. The intention was to take some pictures of the little chap feeding the ducks, however, when we were bombarded with sea gulls it was an opportunity I could not miss!"
The elegant curve of those hard working wings contrasts withe the slightly odd aspect of the gull's head, made even more amusing with its legs dangling down. But if you think this was an undemanding shot, go out and try to reproduce it!

About himself, Ben says: "I have been into photography for many years, and cut my digital photographic teeth on DPNow with a Casio QVX 3 megapixel camera around 5 years or more ago." Here's Ben's very first post on the old DPNow forum back in May 2004.
He adds: "I am 36 years old, though act a lot younger, I work for a small upcoming Software Company, and am soon to be a new dad!"
