Below is David Dunnico's winning entry for the first instalment of our
Greek Gods competition sponsored by Olympus UK.
A voucher for up to £500 worth of Olympus products that can be redeemed at any of the 170
Olympus PIX dealers in the UK and Ireland will soon be on its way to David. As a winner of September's monthly 'heat', David's entry will go forward to the grand champion of champions finale next summer, with the overall winner receiving a fantastic £2,000 holdiay for two in Greece.

David's entry was almost unanimously selected by the three judges: myself, Mark Thackara (trade marketing manager - imaging - Olympus UK) and our guest judge this month, Nigel Atherton (left), editor of
What Digital Camera magazine.
Two of us chose David's picture as our first choice and one of us placed it second, so the decision was completely without doubt. None of the others came close in this regard.
This was David's description of his picture and the Aphrodite theme it was based on: "Hopefully this image suggests her renowned beauty; the pose suggests Aphrodite lying in her sacred precinct on Cyprus, being soothed by the Graces."
Nigel commented: "David's image demonstrates a vivid imagination and a good eye for composition, as well as an advanced level of skill in its execution."
When David found out about his success, he was understandably delighted: "Wow! Thanks for letting me know about winning the Olympus competition. I'm really excited. I was considering which digital camera to buy and as an Olympus user for nearly 20 years (OM1's and OM2's) am doubly pleased."
Do you think you could do better? Do you feel like winning £500 worth of Olympus gear and an ultimate chance of
winning the big champion of champions £2,000 holiday in Greece? You have until midnight on the last day of this month to get your
entry in for the October £500 prize.
Although David's winner stood out for the judges, there were some very good runners up. Here is a gallery of the judges' top ten, in no specific order, from September's entry (click on any of the thumbnail images below):
