How do I enter the competition?
(See September's winner and runners up
here.)
Just follow these 3 simple steps:
(This month'd competition is now closed)
1. Find the location of your nearest Olympus Photo Imaging Expert (PIX) dealer. This is easy - just click
here to get to the PIX site which has a national dealer guide.
2. Choose or create a picture to submit. The competition is very loosely themed on ancient Greek Gods. This month's featured mythological deity is Hermes.
Hermes was the son of Zeus and Maia. One of his jobs was to be Zeus' messenger. To do this he had to be the fastest of the gods. To achieve his legendary speed, Hermes wore magical winged sandals, a winged hat, and carried a mystical wand.
Oddly enough, Hermes is regarded as the god of thieves as well as the god of business and commerce. In his spare time he was regarded as a protector of the all-important olive tree. He is also associated with the dead on their way to the underworld.
On a lighter note, Hermes is credited with the invention of various musical instruments, including the lyre and the pipes. Other things that are associated with Hermes include, the musical scale, astronomy, weights and measures, plus sports, such as gymnastics and boxing.
So what themes can you base the choice of your picture on. From the description above, you could choose from:
•SPEED •WINGS •COMMERCE •OLIVES •TREES
•DEATH •ASTRONOMY •MUSIC •SPORTS •MAGIC
•CRIME •MESSAGES •HATS •WANDS •PIPES
But don't feel tied to these themes - if you can think of an even better one relating to Hermes, no matter how loosely, go for it!
3. Send us your entry! You can do this via
olympus.competition@dpnow.com
Your picture can be either a JPEG or TIFF image up to 1MB in file size. If you aren't sure how to format your picture for email, contact us via the same address for some advice.
Don't forget to include the name of your nearest PIX dealer, plus a simple sentence about how your picture relates to Hermes.
And that's it!
If you win one of the £500 monthly competitions being run until September 2004, your entry will go head to head with the other 11 monthly winners to compete for the grand prize of that £2,000 holiday in Greece.
