How DPNow Pictures of the Day are selectedToday it's the turn of
Jocelyn Walker to be featured in the DPNow Picture of the Day, with her marvelously detailed and colourful picture of a rusting steam roller wheel hub. Jocelyn, who currently resides in Melbourne, Australia, submitted the picture for the current
DPNow Salon photo contest, which is organised on the
DPNow discussion forum by DPNow visitors - for DPNow visitors.
Jocelyn explains: "Well, the
Salon 9 entries required a shot taken especially for that purpose. So I took off in the late afternoon light to my favourite Artist's Colony in Eltham,(Melbourne suburb) where I get most of my inspiration for artwork, armed with camera & tripod instead of easel, paint & paintbrushes!
"I took photos of an old steam roller dating back to the 1800's & some very old horsedrawn carts! I did a couple of macro shots on the wheels as the corrosion produced amazing colours! Came home, did a bit of saturation & cropping in Photoshop CS2, et voila!"

Adds Jocelyn: "About myself as an amateur in photography, especially digital! I have a Nikon 5900 as I can't afford a DSLR (I would dearly love to own one in the future!) Photography for me is a hobby that helps me unwind from a stressful occupation of shiftwork as a Disability carer, alongside my painting in acrylics! The photography started as an aid to my art."
I don't know if Jocelyn's rusty wheel hub will win the
