UP-DR150 printer underpins Sony’s new retail photo finishing direction
28th September 2004 – At Photokina, Sony Europe introduces its all new digital photo printer, UP-DR150, which will be the world’s fastest Photo printer in its class. This new High-Speed photo printer will establish Sony as the market leader for retail integrated photofinishing solutions. The UP-DR150 photo printer has been designed to help retailers make the most of the current surge of interest in digital photography, enabling their customers to enjoy instant prints from their digital devices or camera phones while doing their shopping.
The UP-DR150 Digital Photo printer is the fastest high quality photo printer in the world, printing a 10x15 cm (4x6 inch) print in only 8 seconds. When using 13 x 18 cm (5 x 7 inch) paper, a print can be made in approximately 15 seconds. A 15 x 20 cm (6 x 8 inch) image can be printed in approximately 20 seconds. The high-speed, high-volume, high-capacity roll printer is designed to meet the needs of the most demanding customers. Utilizing Sony dye sublimation technology, it produces the highest quality borderless photo-quality prints available.

The UP-DR150 creates crisp and vibrant prints with natural, continuous tones. It offers three types of print finishes: Glossy, Texture and Matte, and prints onto 4 different print packs: 9x 13 cm (3 1/2 x 5 inches), 10 x 15 cm (4 x 6 inches), 13 x 18 cm (5 x 7 inches), and 15 x 20 cm (6 x 8 inches).
Offering large paper capacities and roll printing technology, the UP-DR150 is a ‘workhorse’. The printer can hold a roll of 550 10 x 15 cm (4 x 6 inch) prints or 335 13 x 18 cm (5 x7 inch) prints.
This roll printer is ideal for photo, electronic and telecom shops, retail chains, supermarkets and anyone who offers traditional photo developing and wants to move into digital printing at a low cost. Sony is the only company to produce a printer of this speed within this technological area.
