Breakthrough 30 Page per Minute Printing with the New HP Deskjet 6540 Colour Inkjet Printer
High speed print performance plus on-printer controls for speed/quality settings
LONDON, UK, 12 August 2004. HP today announced the launch of the HP Deskjet 6540 Colour Inkjet Printer, a high performance colour inkjet printer offering a combination of breakthrough speeds, professional-quality borderless photos, advanced on-printer controls and a number of options for further enhancing performance.
Designed for high productivity environments, the HP Deskjet 6540 Colour Inkjet Printer offers black & white printing at up to 30 pages per minute (ppm) – the first HP inkjet printer to break this barrier – and colour document printing at up to 20 ppm.
The HP Deskjet 6540 Colour Inkjet Printer is aimed at users who want fast, hassle-free printing and this is also reflected in the advanced control panel that is conveniently situated on the front of the stylish, brushed aluminium casing. The intuitive on-printer tools include a print mode selector button, allowing a choice of speed and quality settings without having to go through the printer driver. An instant print cancel button saves time and ink when stopping unwanted jobs, while an ink status display provides a clear alert when ink levels are running low. Other features that will be appreciated by business and home office users include automatic paper type sensing, and an ink back-up mode that allows one cartridge to take over if the other runs out. A convenient front USB port allows for easy connection to laptops.
While high speed document printing is likely to be the primary application for this printer, it is also capable of producing professional-quality photos, with or without borders, in media sizes ranging from 77 x 127 mm to 215 x 610 mm. For end results with the look and feel of traditional photos, users can choose HP Premium Plus Photo Paper, a 280g/m2 stock available in high-gloss or satin-matt finish. HP Premium Plus Photo Paper is in a variety of sizes, including new pre-cut 13 x 18 cm large snapshot size and 10 x 30 cm panorama size for impressive panorama photos, ideal for city skylines.
The HP Deskjet 6540 Colour Inkjet Printer comes complete with the HP No. 339 Black and the No. 344 Tri-Colour Inkjet Print Cartridge and it can print at up to 4800-optimised dpi in standard 4-ink mode, to deliver the finest detail in photos. For even richer colour and virtually grain-free photos, the black inkjet print cartridge can temporarily be removed and replaced with the optional HP No. 348 Photo Inkjet Print Cartridge to deliver 6-ink colour printing. For stunning black & white photo printing, HP offers the optional HP No. 100 Grey Photo Inkjet Print Cartridge which produces results comparable with professional labs. When using the new formulation HP inks contained in these cartridges, together with HP Premium Plus Photo Papers, the HP Deskjet 6540 Colour Inkjet Printer produces outstanding photos that offer exceptional fade resistance .
The HP Deskjet 6540 Colour Inkjet Printer comes with HP Photo Printing software which allows easy management, editing, correcting, sharing and printing of photos, including album page printing.
While out-of-the-box performance is impressive enough, a wide range of optional extras is available including an Auto Double-Sided Print Accessory with small paper tray for simple double-sided printing. A second paper tray is available to be purchased separately that increases the paper input capacity to 400 sheets for reduced interruptions.
The HP Deskjet 6540 Colour Inkjet Printer is available from September 2004 at a recommended street price of £129 (actual prices may vary).
