Shirley, a deputy head teacher from Dunstable, went to see the Olympic Kayak events at the London 2012 Olympics over at the Lee Valley White Water Centre yesterday. And she came back with this fabulous shot of Italy's Daniele Molmenti on his way to a gold medal. The look of sheer determination, as well as poise, as Molmenti sizes up the next obstacle along the boiling course is beautifully captured. I also like the choice of black and white, which concetrates the visual grit and determination. Shirley has posted a set of additional shots from her day at the Olympics on the DPNow forum thread that we have set aside for your photos of the Olympics.
