Capture the Magic of Gardening
Notcutts Garden Centres calls on snappers to share their inspiring garden images as it launches first nationwide photography competition
From fields of bluebells to a tree adorned Westminster Abbey, Britain is blooming and Notcutts Garden Centres are challenging amateur photographers and gardeners alike, to capture the magic and compete in its first national photography competition.
The competition, which launches on 16 May 2011, is open to two age groups – adults and under 18s - and will be judged by some of the leading lights in the gardening world - star of the BBC’s Christine’s Garden and regular of The One Show, Christine Helen Walkden, and presenter on Gardener’s World and The Sun gardening correspondent, Peter Seabrook.
Nineteen regional winners will be selected in each category, each receiving £50 worth of Notcutts plants or for children £25 worth of Notcutts vouchers with the overall winning photographer in the adult category receiving a top of the range digital SLR camera and £500 worth of Notcutts products - a prize worth over a whopping £1,000. What’s more, the lucky winner of the under 18 category will receive a compact digital camera to help them continue to flourish into Britain’s next up and coming photographer.
Commenting on the competition, Andy King, CEO of Notcutts says:
“Every day at Notcutts we receive feedback from our customers telling us what an inspiring place their garden can be; their own little unique piece of paradise. With this competition we want to capture those awe inspiringly beautiful moments; a butterfly landing on lavender, a Floribunda rose coming into bloom, or a spectacular urban space.”
“A picture can be so evocative, taking people right to that place and time, and we are very keen for amateur photographers of all ages and gardening ability to get out there and show us what they have got.”
Entrants can visit the Notcutts website at www.notcutts.co.uk to upload their images, or enter by post before the 12th August 2011 deadline.
