Camera Underwater announce underwater housing for the Panasonic AG-3DA1 3D camera

New Gates 3DA1 underwater housing for the Panasonic AG-3DA1 3D camera - now available from Cameras Underwater

25th November 2010: Cameras Underwater, the UK’s leading specialist in underwater photography, is pleased to announce the arrival of Gates Underwater Products’ 3DA1 waterproof housing for the Panasonic 3D AG-3DA1 camera – allowing videographers to capture life beneath the surface of the ocean in stunning full HD 3D for the first time.

The Panasonic AG-3DA1 is the world’s first professional quality, fully integrated full HD 3D camcorder that records to SD card media and the Gates 3DA1 housing has been designed specifically for this ground-breaking 3D camera.

Much anticipated by independent film makers, the 3DA1 underwater housing from Gates finally allows the beauty and mystery of the underwater world to be captured in 3D, providing viewers with a more realistic and immersive visual experience than ever before.

Continuing the Gates’ tradition of durable ‘bulletproof’ construction, the 3DA1 housing has been built using a combination of aluminium and stainless steel, sealed with a nickel-acetate process. Professional controls such as manual focus, iris and white balance are built-in as standard and all controls are 100% mechanical - avoiding the problems of sticky buttons, faulty electronics or dead batteries and allowing easy access to camera menus for shooting 3D underwater.  The 3DA1 also comes with adjustable trim weights for ideal buoyancy and balance.

Gates has developed a wide angle adapter for the camera and there are ports for both wide angle and macro work. For broadcast purposes, the 3DA1 supports the Convergent Design nano3D recorder, which can record data rates of up to 280 Mbps at 4:2:2 colour with anaglyph playback.

Weighing less than 11.3kg without the camera, the Gates 3DA1 features dimensions of 27 (W) x 30 (H) x 58 (L) cm.  Waterproof to a depth of 137 metres, the 3DA1 is also backed by a 2 year warranty from Gates.  The Gates EM43 dedicated underwater external 4.3” LCD monitor is available with the 3DA1 housing as an optional extra.

The Gates 3DA1 underwater housing is available now from Cameras Underwater. The housing is priced at £9699.00 excluding VAT and ports.
