Glenveagh National Park, by Richard Crowe

Richard Crowe is a versatile photographer but he has made his mark in the DPNow gallery with his tone-mapped or HDR (high dynamic range) photography. Today's Picture of the Day is a great example of a tone-mapped landscape, with vivid saturation of the sky and land details and bold definition of the cloudscape. For some it's not a natural effect, and it's not universally liked, especially when the effect is over-cooked, but Richard has produced a very attractive example of this genre. By the way, the scene was photographed at Glenveagh National Park, County Donegal, at the far north of Northern Ireland.
