Olympus Picture Express offers fast prints, at low cost

Olympus has launched its Picture Express service, offering instant and competitively priced printing of digital images, via the high-end P-440 dye sublimation printer, at a local photographic retailer*. The service is available from May 2004.

Existing printing services are a costly option for most users. The Olympus Picture Express offers a very competitive price per image, plus quick and easy delivery of photo laboratory-quality prints.

The Olympus Picture Express is capable of reading all image storage media, including xD-Picture Card, SmartMedia, SD Card, CompactFlash, Memory Stick and CD-ROM. In addition, it supports both infrared and Bluetooth technology, enabling digital images stored on mobile phones to be transferred for printing.

Loading and printing times are fast: the process takes only 15 seconds per image from start to finish. Once the storage medium is loaded, the pictures appear immediately on the touch screen for selection. Photos can then be trimmed or edited further using features such as anti-red eye treatment. Images can also be cropped and enlarged for printing, or burnt onto a CD-ROM and archived.

Sara Cubitt, Head of Marketing Communications of Olympus UK, explains the benefits of the new system: “The digital camera market is booming, with more people than ever persuaded by the convenience and performance of digital photography. Picture Express is intended to meet the growing demand for printed digital images and the results of first tests have been very successful. “
