Currys, the UK’s leading electrical retailer, is encouraging members of the public to capture a snapshot of the Great British Summer, in a national photography competition.

Outstanding images that demonstrate flair, originality and embody the Great British Summer theme will be featured at an exclusive exhibition at the Music Rooms gallery, central London from 30th August-5th September. Finalists will be invited to a private ceremony where a panel of judges including supermodel and photography enthusiast, Jodie Kidd, Arthur Edwards, The Sun’s Royal Photographer and Currys will select the winners.
The winning entries will be rewarded with a set of fantastic prizes with the three overall winners receiving a luxury holiday worth £5,000 as well as a Panasonic FS12 camera or S26 camcorder each. Six runners-ups will also receive a Panasonic camera or camcorder, to ensure they have the best kit to showcase and develop their talents.
Throughout the summer, Currys will be running a Great British Summer promotion in-store showcasing products that will enhance the British summer for customers. Digital cameras, SLRs and camcorders, MP3 players, portable DVD players as well as sat- navs and netbooks will all be featured in the summer long promotion across Currys’ national network of stores as well as online at currys.co.uk
Anna Burleigh, Marketing Director, Currys added: ‘Currys offers a range of fantastic products, such as portable DVD players, netbooks and MP3 players, that will really help customers get the most out of the Great British Summer, especially as many are choosing to holiday at home this year. With more and more people taking up photography, the competition gives our customers a great outlet to celebrate their talents as well as summer time in Great Britain.’
Jodie Kidd, supermodel and guest judge commented: “The Currys’ Great British Summer photography competition is a fantastic opportunity for all budding photographers to get out there and take some fabulous photos, particularly with the added incentive of having your work exhibited at a London gallery. From my years of modelling experience, I’ve developed a passionate interest in photography on both sides of the lens and can’t wait to see the entries for the competition.”
Robert Scholes, Sales Director of Panasonic added, “We are delighted to have teamed up with Currys for this exciting competition. It’s a fantastic opportunity for members of the public to learn more about digital photography and we are really looking forward to seeing the entries.”
