Editor's Comment: As with all photo competitions, DPNow urges all potential competitors to read the terms and conditions before entering their work in case a claim is made on the use or copyright of your pictures. Also, beware of any subsequent offers that ask you to pay for items that result from competitions before parting with any cash.

Marly, Switzerland, 20 August, 2007 – ILFORD announces today that it has joined forces with The Telegraph to sponsor the newspaper’s ‘Our Lives’ competition that is currently running in conjunction with Currys.

Winning entries from five different categories - Our People, Our Places, Our Environment, Our Lives in Motion and Our Events - will be selected by a panel of experienced judges and printed on ILFORD Inkjet media. Finalists will have the pleasure of seeing their images framed and displayed in the Proud Central Gallery, just off Trafalgar Square in London, from the 25th of August to the 9th of September, 2007. Mr. David Bailey will select the winners at a private ceremony to be held on the 8th of September.

The competition has generated phenomenal interest and enthusiasm, with over forty thousand entries submitted. With such a tremendous response, Telegraph judges will pay close attention to technical quality but also thoughtful composition, use of light and colour, as well as originality to draw a total of nine images per category. Of the forty-five finalists, there will be one overall winner, one category winner and eight highly commended finalists.

“We’re delighted to have ILFORD on board as one of the event sponsors,” said Lucy Davies of the Telegraph. ILFORD has a strong photographic history that dates back to 1879 so it was only natural for us to select a leading manufacturer of photo media to support the exhibition. The final images are outstanding.”

“ILFORD is proud to sponsor this prestigious event and to work closely with The Telegraph,” said Dai Jones, Managing Director of ILFORD Imaging Switzerland GmbH. "It’s wonderful to see so many enthusiastic amateur photographers out there. We fully support such an initiative that encourages creativity and imagination in the world of modern day photography,” he added.
