Home and office excellence: Canon introduces Wi-Fi enabled premium All-In-One
United Kingdom / Republic of Ireland, 18th February 2009: Canon today strengthens its PIXMA range with the release of a new network-ready Office All-In-One. Replacing the PIXMA MX850 and PIXMA MX700, the PIXMA MX860 combines Canon’s premium print engine, auto duplex scan and copy functions, a high speed Auto Document Feeder (ADF) of up to 35 sheets, and a super G3 fax. The addition of Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity allows multiple users to enjoy the PIXMA MX860’s blend of imaging excellence and office productivity features.
Serious productivity
With its high speed, auto duplex ADF, the PIXMA MX860 can be used to batch scan or copy double-sided documents. The integrated duplex unit makes it possible to automatically print or copy on both sides of paper, while two-way paper feeding enables the printer to be loaded with plain and letterhead paper simultaneously.
The PIXMA MX860 extends productivity even further: a CIS scanner, with up to 2400dpi resolution, offers fast, detailed photo and document scanning. Scan functions include Push-scan, which allows users to send a scan to a specified computer on the network, and scan to PDF, for creating searchable PDFs from text documents.
Canon’s advanced copy technology ensures faithful reproduction, including precision colour matching. Near-instant access to copying and other functions is provided by Quick Start technology, which allows the PIXMA MX860 to power up and be ready to use in seconds.
Refined Product Design
The PIXMA MX860 features a sophisticated new product design. The ADF and control panel have evolved into the top cover as a fully-integrated unit – providing simple, easy access to all functions all the time.
Super G3 fax and easy networking
Used either as a standalone fax or in conjunction with a PC, the PIXMA MX860 transmits mono or colour documents at a data rate of 33.6kbps. The 35-sheet ADF allows multiple page faxes to be sent with ease. Users can also send quickly to five one touch dials, to multiple recipients with sequential broadcasting, and take advantage of several improved security features.
The PIXMA MX860 is designed for simple integration into home and office networks, either via built-in Ethernet (wired LAN) or Wi-Fi. This allows multiple users to gain easy access to fax, print, copy and scan functions.
Printing excellence
Superlative print quality and speed is assured with Canon’s FINE print head, which delivers fast documents and photos. Default document print speeds based on ISO/IEC 24734 ESAT are 8.4 ipm (mono) and 5.6 ipm (colour) while a photolab quality 10x15cm borderless photo prints in approximately 41 seconds. Precision placement of 1pl ink droplets at a maximum resolution of 9600dpi creates grain-free photos with impressively smooth gradations. Canon’s enhanced ChromaLife100+ keeps photo prints vibrant for over 300 years See Technologies Explained..
For superior colour reproduction in photos and crisp text in documents, the PIXMA MX860 uses five single inks: both dye and pigment Black ink tanks mean that PIXMA MX860 is ideal for both document and photo printing. Single Ink tanks minimise wastage: users need only replace individual colours as they run out.
Easy images
Included with the PIXMA MX860 is Canon’s intuitive software, which makes business operations and photo print optimisation equally easy. Canon’s MP Navigator EX software makes scanning and saving your documents effortless, with advanced features such as Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and password protection when creating PDF’s. With Auto Scan Mode, scanned documents are automatically recognised by the type of original – and save settings optimised at the touch of a single button.
Canon’s Easy-PhotoPrint EX software makes it easy to print great looking photos with automatic red-eye correction and Auto Photo Fix. Photos can be printed directly from PictBridge compatible digital cameras, or most popular memory card formats See specifications for details using built-in slots. A generous 6.2cm colour TFT display allows detailed preview of images from memory card.
“For networked small and home offices, the PIXMA MX860 represents an exceptional value proposition,” said Rainer Fuehres, Head of Canon Consumer Imaging Europe. “No other Office All-In-One offers such superb image quality in a versatile, network-ready package.”
