Announcing the “I need a REAL Gap” Photography Challenge 2008

Also, beware of any subsequent offers that ask you to pay for items that result from competitions before parting with any cash.
Real Gap, the UK’s leading gap travel provider, is launching the first national “I need a REAL Gap” Photography Challenge.
David Stitt, managing director, Real Gap explains, “REAL Gap is delighted to launch this national photography competition. We, like many other organisations, recognise that people are feeling despondent as a result of the economic climate and we just wanted to introduce a small light-hearted way of making a difference. We are calling for submissions under the title “I need a REAL Gap” and we are really looking for one single image that shouts this, head and shoulders above the rest. Why do you feel you need a break, what single image sums up why you should win the REAL Gap Photography Challenge? The challenge is open to all* and something we would like to think could become an annual affair.”
The judges include Mark Harrison**, David Stitt, Helen Guyver and a group of four randomly-selected past and future REAL Gap travellers. Mark, a previous winner of the BBC Music/Southbank Photographer of the Year Award, has been photographing an eclectic mix of people for over twenty years and will join David, managing director and Helen, marketing manager, REAL Gap on the panel.
The prize is a £500 REAL Gap voucher. To give you some ideas, this could contribute to a round-the-world trip of your dreams or pay for a fortnight on our Thailand Experience, a week learning to be a cowboy in New Zealand or four weeks on our conservation programme in Hawaii.
Submissions must be received by 31st December 2008 and the winner will be announced on Monday 12th January 2009. The file must be a minimum of 300dpi, no larger than 5MB and ideally in a jpeg format.

NOTES:
*Please note that the challenge is open to all UK residents over 18 years old. Certain terms & conditions apply to travellers with Real Gap and the company reserve the right to refuse travel should an individual not fulfil these criteria. Travellers must have full insurance when they take part in their programme. The prize is one x £250 REAL Gap voucher, it is not transferable and the winner has 12 months in which to use the voucher (travel may be later than 12 months but payment using the voucher must be completed by 31st December 2009). Real Gap reserves the right to own and use any photographs submitted in their marketing activity. Photographs cannot be returned.
