A 46 year old grandmother from London, Gina , is the photographer behind today's featured Picture of the Day on DPNow. This is a striking study of Gina's daughter, or to be precise - her eyes. Gina used a posterisation technique to produce this special effect result. Gina, who is recovering from a stroke, has been one of the DPNow gallery's most imaginative and experimental photographers. She's also very down to earth:
"Thank you for considering my work as a POTD, I'm honoured," says Gina. She adds: "I'm always experimenting with light and editing techniques, always pushing the boundaries but not always sticking to the rules. This image is of my daughter's eyes, which are amazing without me interfering with them, but on this occasion I wanted something striking. I pushed up the contrast and brightness and then increased the hue to give a vivid appearance.
"Photography to me is about capturing a moment in time forever which become precious souvenirs for future generations. I'm lucky to have a close family, who are always willing models for me and I'm learning more every day."

We are always on the look out for great pictures posted to the user-galleries here on DPNow. POTDs are selected from the gallery and featured every week day. The gallery facility here is completely free; all you need to do is register as a user on our discussion forum and you will get an automatic 25MB of space, which is good for around 125 pictures uploaded at web resolution, about 200K per picture. At the time of writing we had nearly 10,000 pictures on the galleries and it's well worth a browse.
