Here's the readers' choice for Photo Fix No.3
The pictures have been entered, the votes have been counted and now we know who the winners and runners up are for the 3rd DPNow.com Photo Fix competition. It's fair to say that in each of the categories of technical improvement and artistic interpretation, the votes were largely drawn to a couple of the images entered. These images were judged to be head and shoulders above the rest.
You can see short list of entries here and just to remind you, this was what entrants were given to improve on; dark, lacking in contrast and colour - it needed all the help it could get;:

And so to the winners and first, the technical improvement category. Here we were primarily interested in maintaining photo-realism, with the challenge to improve the real-life view quality of the image.
Erik Harcharik netted the most votes, here is his entry:

Erik was closely followed home by Mike Parr, who cannily chose to rotate the image:

In the artistic interpretation category, Barry Thompson got the nod, also rotating the image and using an almost metallic conversion of the white roses:

Finally, Richard Crowe came in second with his corner-lit blue-tinged blooms:
