Ilford Photo denounces ill-informed newspaper report

Release issued by Ilford Photo:

Ilford statement

Mobberly, Cheshire, England. 29 June 2005: A factually incorrect statement concerning ILFORD Photo, which appeared in the UK newspaper The Independent and its online version - and was subsequently picked up by various industry news websites -has created much adverse reaction.

The article, which relates to the general state of the photographic industry, and is another example of ill-informed journalists dancing on the grave of someone not dead, states that ILFORD has 'failed' and 'disappeared', but this is totally untrue. As detailed in the press release headed 'ILFORD up to speed' which was recently sent to you, ILFORD Photo is thriving, and its future has never been more secure.

The Independent has accepted that it was in error, and a retraction/correction will be run in order to put the situation straight. Meanwhile, distributors, retailers and users can all rest assured that this reference to ILFORD is totally incorrect and unfounded, and is purely the result of a reporter not doing his job properly in checking his 'facts'.
