LINDY Launches 3 Port FireWire 800 Repeater Hub
LINDY Launches 3 Port FireWire 800 Repeater Hub Hub enables users to
expand FireWire interface and extend devices by up to 4.5m
Stockton-on-Tees, UK (29th March 2007) – LINDY Electronics announced
today the launch of its 3 Port FireWire 800 Repeater Hub that allows
users to connect two FireWire peripherals to a computer at distances of up to 4.5m.
Suitable for both PC and Mac users that wish to extend or expand their
FireWire interface, LINDY’s 3 Port FireWire 800 Repeater Hub supports
speeds of up to 800Mbps when connected between a dedicated FireWire
800 port on a computer and a FireWire 800 device.
The hub’s bilingual ports allow for connection to legacy FireWire
400/200/100 devices when the appropriate connection cables are used.
Built-in active repeater circuitry allows FireWire connection
distances to be extended by up to 4.5m. The hub allows devices to be
hot-plugged and hot-swapped and can be daisy chained with additional
hubs to connect up to
63 devices.
FireWire800 is far in excess of the speed of USB2 and has confirmed
FireWire as the technology of choice to connect cameras, camcorders,
external disk drives or any device that needs to transfer large
amounts of data quickly.”
comments Stephen Fawcett, Senior Product Manager of LINDY Electronics.
“This
hub will allow users to benefit from the speed of this technology when
used with the Beta type cable, but still provide compatibility with
their legacy devices with the use of bilingual type cable.”
The compact size of the hub makes it ideal for use with notebooks. It
can be bus powered or self powered using the included power supply.
Also supplied is a 1m FireWire 800 9pin Beta cable.
Features include:
• 3 bilingual IEEE1394b ports
• Bus-powered or self-powered using the included power supply
• Can be daisy chained with additional hubs to connect up to 63
devices
• Supplied with a 1m FireWire 800 9 Pin Beta cable
• Dimensions: 100 x 60 x 15mm (WxDxH)
