Verbatim increases LightScribe range with DVD-R format
Verbatim has added the latest generation, version 1.2, to its LightScribe media product range. LightScribe DVD-R x16 joins the already available DVD+R 16x and CD-R 52x. The new media has a storage capacity of 4.7 GB, and is available in 5 Pack Jewel Cases for £8.99.
The new media has been developed by Verbatim's parent company Mitsubishi Kagaku Media and Hewlett Packard in response to the growing demand for DVD-Rs with writeable surface. Verbatim's latest generation of LightScribe media offers a new and improved coating. It takes just under 20 minutes to burn the entire disc surface.
Burners featuring the LightScribe technology – like as those made by Philips, BenQ, Pioneer, LG, Panasonic and Samsung – can write data to disks, and professionally print the disc label , with text and images, all with the same laser. This is done by transferring energy precisely to the thin coloured layer on the label side. A chemical reaction then occurs leaving its mark. The result is a brilliant satin finish, giving a home movie, company presentation or private photo collection a design with a highly professional finish.
