Here are the results of the first DPNow.com photo fix Challenge
See all ten finalists for yourself
The very clear winner in the voting,
Image No.8, was the clever abstract view of the task that opened the door, produced by Richard Cano, who hails from San Francisco.
Pete Brehaut summed things up perfectly: "Just like 8 as it shows you something on the other side that you may wish to go and see. It just seems to draw you in." Dennis Pitchforth pointed out that the image answered a question: "8 has supplied a possible answer to what most people wonder - 'I wonder what is behind that door?'!!" Stuart Rook, whose entry completed the podium in third place, commented: "No 8 is the most original and a clever idea - most would have assumed they were on the outside and would open the door to look inside - not the other way round."

The winning image took a daring interpretation of the challenge to win votes. |
The runner up was
Image No.10, submitted by Ronald Clarke. Ron's image enriched the original and he enhanced the summery feel by feathering an off-set crop that framed the door beautifully.
In third place,
Image No.6, by Stuart Rook, took a completely different and most effective interpretation by creating a blue-black night time scene with an ominous white glow shining through the gap between the bottom of the door and floor.
Thanks go out to everyone that took the trouble to submit entries and to vote. We'll be running another challenge very soon.
And don't forget that on our
new discussion forum, which now features a free integrated
photo gallery for you to upload, display and store screen resolution photos, we have started a regular, fun,
theme-based 'salon' photo contest.
