Catalus releases survey on backing up images

Lost images to turn Christmas joy into heartache, warns Catalus

06 November 2007 – Specialist memory card distributor, Catalus, is warning consumers that Christmas images are at risk of being lost because they’re not backed up, following the results of a survey.

Over 20 per cent of the 500 participants questioned admitted to failing to back up their images from their digital camera.   Worse still 63, per cent of respondents stated that they never back up images on their mobile phones.

Dave Flack, director of sales and marketing at Catalus, believes that consumers are taking unnecessary risks.  He comments, “Higher mega pixel technology now means that some mobile phone cameras are as good as entry level digital cameras – yet people still view the camera as a secondary function and forget the importance of backing up.

“With Christmas around the corner many of us will be taking photos and capturing special memories on both digital and mobile phone cameras. Backing up is easy and could save lots of heartache - and grief - if phones are lost or files accidentally deleted.”
