International photographers put on London MA degree show
The degree exhibition by 12 international photographers opens at the Hanbury Gallery, East London, next month.
Blind Site, the degree show of the University of Westminster MA Photographic Studies Programme, will run from 6-10 September at the Hanbury Gallery (the Old Truman Brewery), 15 Hanbury St, off Brick Lane, E1, 11am-7pm.
Private view: Friday, 5 September, 7-9 pm
David Bate, MA course leader at the University of Westminster, said: "This exhibition promises to be both dynamic and reflective. Work ranges from black-and-white photography to digital media to stereoscopy and deals with issues as diverse as identity, urbanity and aesthetics. As the title of the exhibition hints, the work as a whole challenges viewers to reexamine photography's expressive ability."
The photographers' backgrounds include professional studio work, architectural photography, journalism, painting, mathematics and academia. They come from Britain, California, El Savador, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Peru and Southern Ireland.
