CARLSTADT, N.J. – Jan. 16, 2006 – Pantone, Inc., the global authority on colour for the design industries, today announced a strategic partnership with GretagMacbeth, the worldwide technological leader in colour measurement and management solutions. The companies are collaborating to make colour management more accessible for a wide variety of users, ranging from consumers to professionals.

As a first step in their relationship, Pantone and GretagMacbeth today announced (see separate release) a family of products for managing colour onscreen that will be marketed by Pantone on a global basis. The family of products, which includes huey™, Eye-One® Display LT and Eye-One Display 2, addresses a wide range of users – from consumers to professionals. The products completely break through barriers of cost and complexity that have kept many potential users away and also provide a migration path for users as their needs grow. This is just the first in a series of offerings the two companies plan to introduce together.

“We have always been committed to delivering innovative solutions that empower users to achieve reliable and predictable colour results. As technology and tools have continued to advance, we’ve aligned with an industry leader to improve the user experience and their interaction with colour,” said Helmut Eifert, vice president of Pantone Europe. “GretagMacbeth shares our vision and through our partnership we will expand our product line to reach even broader markets and address a more expansive set of industry needs.”

“Our heritage and success has been in the high-end professional markets. At the same time, we see the potential in the creative and consumer spaces,” adds Dr. Francis Lamy, executive vice president and CTO of GretagMacbeth. “We have tremendous respect for Pantone’s relationships and understanding of the creative community’s needs. We believe that Pantone’s knowledge of the design market combined with our ability to adapt our high-end technology for new markets will enable the two of us to continue to lead the industry in terms of innovation, price/performance and user experience.”
