HP leaves Europe on tenterhooks

US announcements leave European press raring to go...

Hewlett-Packard has made a slew of important imaging-related product announcements in the US that underline the company's huge commitment to maintain and increase its already dominant presence in areas like ink jet printing and grow its share of the digital camera market. Indeed, some of the innovations announced by HP are both exciting and inspirational.

The news from the US was rather a surprise. European press, including us here at dpnow.com and photo-i, have been thoroughly briefed on all the new products but our legally binding non-disclosure agreements don't currently permit us to publish our own coverage of these new products.

Press releases are one thing, but we're dying to tell you about what we've seen and tried out for ourselves from HP's new goodies. It's very frustrating to find ourselves in a position where the US HP PR schedule is out of sync with that in Europe.

In the light of the US announcements, it's now our top priority to persuade HP here in Europe to bring forward the European press embargo date so we can publish our coverage of HP's new products sooner rather than later.

Our friend, Vincent Oliver, over at www.photo-i.co.uk, has done a lot of hard work to compile an archive of the various HP press releases that have been released in the US market. Rather than duplicate Vincent's efforts, we encourage you to click on the link above and have a look there.
