Release Issued by Wacom:
Intuos3 A5 Wide is ideal for use with widescreen displays and multi-monitor set-ups
Wacom, the leading manufacturer of pen tablets and interactive pen displays, today announces the Intuos3 A5 Wide. The new pen tablet, Wacom¹s first in a wide format size, is aimed at professionals and prosumers in digital imaging, digital photography, graphic design, industrial design and video editing markets. The Intuos3 A5 Wide is priced at £249.90 excluding VAT and is ideal for use with widescreen displays, HDTV monitors or multi-monitor set-ups.
In response to demand from users and the fast growing market for LCD monitors and widescreen notebooks, the Intuos3 A5 Wide provides an active area of 6x11 inch and comes in a 16:10 aspect ratio, more closely matching the dimensions of widescreen displays in the marketplace today, including Apple's cinema displays.
A particular benefit for the digital imaging, graphic design and video editing environments is that it is more convenient to work on double monitor set-up or wide format display with a wide format tablet. This is because using the standard mapping of current tablets with a wide format display or multi-monitor set-up, often results in a distortion of objects, as the proportions of the tablet do not fit the screen.
The Intuos3 A5 Wide provides the same features as the Intuos3 pen tablet system, which includes integrated ExpressKeys and Touch Strips. The ExpressKeys are two four-button keypads placed on each side of the tablet, that are pre-configured with frequently used modifier keys, which can be customised for any application.
The two Touch Strips act like a scroll bar with presets to allow zooming and scrolling in various applications. With these features, users can directly access functions such as pan and zoom, cut, copy, paste and undo at the touch of a fingertip, enhancing productivity and speeding up the workflow.
Intuos3 A5 Wide offers a highly accurate way of working due to the 5,080 dpi resolution and 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity in both the pen tip and eraser of the Intuos3 Pen and Airbrush. Each tablet is able to recognise the tilt angle of a Grip Pen and Airbrush of up to 60 degrees and offers Tool ID, where the tablet automatically recognises the relevant tool with its individual settings when the pen is brought into contact with the tablet.
The Intuos3 Art Marker is the first Wacom pen of its kind, encompassing not only the Intuos3's features of pressure and tilt, but also rotation sensing technology. With its chisel-shaped nib, the Intuos3 Art Marker is a versatile tool, enabling digital media professionals to create virtually any type of brush effect or marker stroke and emulate calligraphic pens.
Additional input devices including the Intuos3 Art Marker, Intuos3 Airbrush, Intuos3 Classic Pen, Intuos3 Ink Pen and an Intuos3 Mouse are available.
Bundled software
The Intuos3 A5 Wide is bundled with Corel Painter Essentials2 - a special edition of the natural media drawing application Corel Painter.
