Still Lives
Exhibition continues until 31 October 2005
Portobello Gold presents a new and exclusive exhibition of fine-art & documentary images by photographer John Kenny.
The images reflect his attempt to capture the fleeting connections in time that occur between the photographer and his subjects.
Still Lives preserves these unique moments as John Kenny travels across Asia, visiting countries from Bangladesh to Mongolia.
He says: “Travelling through some of the forgotten countries on earth was an incredible experience. To try and capture the essence of local people in a spontaneous and candid manner was a huge challenge; one that I hope I have reflected in my work”
John Kenny discovered his creative passion relatively late in life, as just a few years ago he was toying with his first digital camera. In September last year, aged 30, he set out on an epic journey to capture ordinary people in extraordinary situations; producing the beautiful set of black and white images that portray the spontaneity of life in towns and villages across Asia.
John is an active member of the London photographic community and has regularly shot street scenes around London for the past two years. His passion is for simple and beautiful compositions: looking for those moments that provide an emotional insight into daily life.
This is John Kenny's first major exhibition, and the first time his work has been viewed in a public form.
