Welcome to dpnow's February 2005 prize draw competition. This month's draw is open to all dpnow visitors, regardless of their country of residence!
This month we have the very versatile Vosonic VP6210 X's Drive Super, fitted with a 20GB hard disk drive, to give away. It's worth £245, including VAT or approximately US$440, or EU€370. The unit we're giving away is the one supplied to us by UK distributors, Card Media, that we're testing for a review to be published on dpnow later this month.
The latest evolution of the X's Drive concept, the X's Drive Super now has a colour screen for viewing your photos and this includes display support for RAW file formats, currently including Nikon D100, D70, D1X, and D1, Canon EOS 1Ds Mark-II, 1Ds, 1D Mark II, 1D, 20D, 10D, 300D (Digital Rebel, Kiss Digital), D30, Power Shot G2, Fujifilm S2 Pro, Olympus E-1 and Kodak DSC Pro SLR/c, DSC Pro SLR/n, DSC Pro 14n cameras.
Plugged in to a PC, the X's Drive Super's memory card slots, which cater for all the popular digital camera card types, including Sony Memory Stick Pro and Fujifilm/Olympus xD, operate just like a high-speed memory card reader. The integrated hard drive also operates as an external storage device. You can copy files from cards to the PC or to the X's Drive's own hard drive and from the X's Drive to the PC or, indeed, to attached cards. Copying speeds are now significantly improved compared to previous X's Drive models too.
Disconnected from a host PC, the X's Drive Super acts as a convenient image store for your photos, letting you copy individual files or the entire contents of a card in one go, fast. It's also an image viewer and digital movie clip player, supporting MPEG-1 or Motion JPEG in AVI or MOV format videos. If that's not enough, you can store and play MP3 music files too. A high capacity rechargeable lithium ion battery endows the X's Drive Super with up to 6 hours of operation between charges.
Included with the X's Drive Super is a very stylish blue protective capsule case. This not only houses the X's Drive unit itself, but has pockets to store spare memory cards and the unit's other special feature, a compact infra red remote control. This is ideal for use when the X's Drive Super is connected via its composite video cable to a TV display, providing easy interactive control and access to features like slide shows.
Undoubtedly the X's Drive Super is designed to be an attractive peripheral for photographers.
