Mirrorpix online images re-launched

Web and digital content management specialist Picdar and Syndication International (SI), formerly Mirror Syndication International, have today the re-launched Mirrorpix.com, an on-line image database aimed at both commercial and consumer customers looking to buy images.

If you didn’t already know, the Daily Mirror is one of the UK’s most popular national daily tabloid newspapers. It and Mirrorpix.com are part of Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN).

There is an “image of the day,” for example and today’s happens to be one of Concorde taking off - topical as the much-modified supersonic airliner re-enters service today after last year’s tragic crash in Paris.

The Mirrorpix.com picture library offers around 300,000 images that can be purchased on-line for either business or private use. Pat Baird, Director of Syndication International, commented: "The look and feel of Mirrorpix has been totally overhauled with the emphasis very much on clarity and ease of use".

New features included in the re-launch include: Mirrorpix Live; live updated news photography containing news material from the Press Association, Action Images and MGN titles. Breaking news imagery can be delivered direct to your desktop as and when it happens. You can also access the MGN title cartoon database.

Another feature is “The Showcase” that features collections or galleries of images you can browse at leisure. Possible collections could include the work of John Pilger, currently on display at The Barbican, through to more everyday topics such as 'Classic Cars', 'The Catwalk', 'British Politics' etc.

There is also a “Save Basket” feature – a light-box facility that lets users save the contents of their shopping basket, in order to browse them at a later date. “Save Search” lets users save search results and return to that information at a later date.

E-postcards let users send any image in the library as an e-postcard. Finally, there is “My Mirrorpix” - an online portfolio for users of Mirrorpix. Users can manage their online account by accessing and updating their login details and user preferences. Users can also use "My Mirrorpix" to view saved searches and shopping baskets as well as tracking order status.
